Longines Big Indian ref 6111-2

This a second series Longines pilot’s watch that was issued to the Indian Air Force pilots in the 1950s . Due to their significant size of 44mm they got the nickname Big Indian. Considered as something fo abrail for military watch collectors, they are very are with some estimates saying that only 100 pieces were made across the two series and other saying that there were a couple of hundred in each series. The second series, such as this, had an updated movement with hacking or stop seconds and a different hand design.

The large size screw down and stepped case measure 44mm and remains in great condition. The case back features the issue number 2xx and the broad arrow with the same issue number on the back of one of the lugs. The watch houses the original black dial, with bold luminous Arabic hours and 24 hour in red and broad /kings arrow . The watch comes on the pictured leather strap and buckle. The movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
