Patek Philippe Gondolo Salmon Breguet Dial with Original Certificate of Origin in 18K White Gold Ref. 5124G
The Gondolo collection is named after the renowned Rio de Janeiro retailer, Gondolo & Labouriau, with whom Patek Philippe maintained a fruitful and enduring business partnership from 1872 to 1927. This collaboration led to the creation of exclusive timepieces for the Brazilian market, known as the âChronometro Gondolo.â Initially, the collection featured only pocket watches, but by the 1920s, wristwatches were introduced.
During a time when Europe was grappling with difficult economic conditions and the turmoil of World War I, Gondolo & Labouriau accounted for nearly a third of Patek Philippeâs total watch production. The sales were so impressive that in Brazil, the term "Patek" became synonymous with "watch." People often referred to any watch purchase as buying a "Patek," even if it wasnât a Patek Philippe at all!
Here, we have a lovely Ref. 5124G in an 18K Art Deco case measuring 33.5mm x 43mm. The watch features a beautiful salmon-colored dial, a small second at six oâclock, and glossy black enamel "Breguet" numerals.
On the back of the case, there is a display caseback, offering a clear view of the hand-wound Caliber 25-21âtruly a sight to behold! The watch is fitted with an original Patek Philippe leather strap and an 18K white gold Patek Philippe buckle. The Certificate of Origin, which confirms a sale in 2009, is included, and the watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
