Rolex GMT-Master 1675 UAE ministry of Defence/ Quraysh Hawk logo dial with Rolex Geneva service papers
A hawk from the middle eastÂ
Â
This is a unique opportunity to acquire one of the most distinctive and collectible GMT-Masters for any serious vintage Rolex collector! A 1675 featuring the UAE Quraysh crest in pristine condition, serviced by Rolex.Â
Â
In a region where gift-giving is a cherished tradition, Rolex has long been the brand of choice in the Middle East, valued for its prestige, status, and renowned reputation. In the 1970s, the UAE government ordered special editions of the GMT-Master 1675, featuring custom-made dials (by Rolex!) with the national coat of arms and the words âMinistry of Defenceâ in Arabic, next to the crest. The national emblem of the UAE, known as the "Quraysh Hawk," is prominently displayed on the black matte dial, just above the 6 oâclock hour marker.
Â
The hawk or falcon, holds deep cultural significance in Emirati society, as falconryâthe practice of using a hawk or falcon to hunt prey in the desertâis a vital aspect of their heritage. On the bird's chest is a red circle depicting a dhow, the traditional sailboat of the region, and beneath the hawkâs talons, "United Arab Emirates" is written in Arabic on a red banner.
Â
And what a dial this one is! The hour markers and hands have developed a deep yellow patinaâsimply stunning. The case is in excellent condition, and it comes with a folded Oyster bracelet, reference 7836, featuring end links marked 282 and a clasp stamped 1/71. The blue-backed inlay showcases rich blue and red tonesâa lovely combination. The watch was serviced by Rolex in Geneva in 2019, and the paperwork for the service is included as well. The watch hasn't been touch or opened since and due to its incredible collectibility and recent service.Â
This is a grail-level GMT-Master, with a stunning dial and a fascinating history. It deserves a spot in any serious watch collecting resembling the pinnacle of GMT collecting. Reach out to our private sales department to discuss its details and outstanding beauty!Â
