The Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse has been in production since 1968. It was introduced as a completely new concept, based on the “golden ratio” — which is where it gets its name. The elliptical case proportions were designed according to this mathematical principle, creating a perfectly balanced and timeless form.

 

While the Golden Ellipse is most commonly seen in its vertical form, this example is a rare horizontal version, featuring the typical lugs for a gold Ellipse, in a 32 x 27 mm 18k yellow gold case.

 

The star of this watch is undoubtedly the dial. Originally born blue (the base is actually 18k gold!), it features a diagonal engraved finish, which has beautifully aged into a stunning “jeans” effect — reminiscent of your favorite pair of denim after years of wear and washing. We absolutely love this character.
